What do you say to your ex-best friend after your husband leaves you for her? It's a nightmarishly awkward situation -- so it's no wonder that Shania Twain lost her cool. The singer, 45, recently opened up on Oprah about losing ex-husband Robert "Mutt" Lange to her friend and assistant Marie-Ann Thiébaud in 2008. She now tells People that she tried to confront Thiébaud once after the divorce -- but "had a total panic attack."
"I just told her that she was a bad person," says Twain, who ran into her ex-friend near her home in Switzerland. "That's all I could get out! When I left her, I thought (to myself), 'You're such a wimp, you coward!" Laughing, she adds, "That was my big moment, and I blew it!"
Although Twain didn't get the satisfaction of telling off the "other woman," she walked away with something better: Thiébaud's estranged husband Frederic, whom Twain married in January.
"Fred has given me a second lease on love," says Twain.
The country star shares the benefits of her experience in a new documentary series, Why Not? with Shania Twain, which explores the lives of ordinary people who have lived through great disappointments -- and depicts Twain's own struggle to get her life back together. It premiered on Sunday -- and so far, it's the OWN Network's biggest hit. Way to go, Shania! (Watch the series preview below.)
